The Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills was started in 1993 by a small group of parents who recognized the need for additional outside funds to enhance the programs in each of the schools in the district. Initially funds were raised from membership mailings and a Taste of the Towns event. The dollars raised from these two efforts was divided equally among the schools in the district. Each school had the opportunity to request equipment or services that would enhance a particular
program or project within their school.
In the history of the foundation over the last decade, we have raised nearly one million dollars and purchased a wide range of gifts utilized by all students throughout the district. Purchases have included everything from technology equipment, musical instruments, art displays and equipment for the life skills program to partnerships with Lincoln Center and staff development.
For the past two years the foundation has taken a step back to reevaluate how it best meets its goals of enriching and enhancing the educational program. In light of the increasingly onerous budgetary constraints, the foundation worked with the administration to identify a two year district wide project that focuses on Communication Arts K-12. In addition, this project meets many of the goals identified by the community based Visions Committee which looked at future directions in educational program and student needs.
Please note: The Educational Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
